Beer Hunter is the data controller for personal information collected through BeerHunter.
Last updated: 22 September 2026
Who we are
BeerHunter is operated by Beer Hunter ("we", "us"). We decide how personal information collected through the Service is handled, which makes us the data controller. Questions or requests: corey@beerhunter.io.
What we collect and why
- Account details (email address, sign-in identifier, display name, and Google account details if you sign in with Google) — to create and secure your account. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- Content you submit (prices, confirmations, notes, venue claims, business details) — to operate the Service and show community data. Legal basis: contract performance and our legitimate interest in a useful, accurate product.
- Approximate location (only when you use "near me" features and allow it) — to sort venues by distance. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw in your device settings.
- Support messages sent via our contact form or email — to answer you. Legal basis: legitimate interest in supporting users.
- Usage and device data (pages viewed, actions taken, device type, IP address, error logs) — for security, abuse and fraud prevention, and product improvement. Legal basis: legitimate interests, and legal obligation where we must retain records.
- Subscription status (plan, status, billing period, transaction records) — to give you the features you paid for. Legal basis: contract performance. Card details are never handled by us.
- Email preferences (price alerts, product updates) — to send what you asked for. Legal basis: consent or contract performance.
Who we share it with
- Service providers who host and run the Service (cloud hosting, database, email delivery, error and analytics tooling), acting on our instructions.
- Stripe, our payment processor, for checkout, subscription management, payments, tax compliance and invoicing.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where needed.
- Authorities or other parties where required by law, or to protect our rights or user safety.
We do not sell your personal information.
International transfers
We are based in Australia and some of our providers process data outside your country. Where information is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions.
How long we keep it
We keep account data while your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards, transaction and tax records for as long as the law requires (generally up to 7 years), and logs for a short retention window. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it. Community price submissions may remain as anonymised historical data.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, restrict or object to certain processing, or withdraw consent where we rely on it. Contact corey@beerhunter.io and we will respond within one month. If you are in the UK or EEA you can also complain to your supervisory authority; in Australia you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls, row-level database security and least-privilege administration. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique sign-in method.
Cookies and local storage
We use essential cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your age confirmation, saved trails and preferences. We also use limited analytics and error-reporting storage to understand usage and fix problems. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, though essential features may stop working. We do not run advertising cookies.
Children
BeerHunter is for people of legal drinking age and is not intended for children. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
